The Black Gate, in partnership with Galway City Arts Office and Music Generation Galway City, presents Black Gate Beginnings, a series of youth music events and workshops taking place in October 2022, funded by Creative Ireland.
On October 22nd Music Generation Galway City will host a workshop and performance by Galway songwriter Niamh Regan in the new GCC Music Centre in Galway Community College. Niamh’s debut album Hemet announced her arrival as one of the most distinctive songwriters in Ireland today, earning nominations for both the RTE Folk Awards’ and the Choice Awards’ Album of the Year and leading to performances on The Late Late Show, Other Voices, and La Blogothèque. A natural storyteller, Regan’s songs are windows into her world, snapshots of the intimacy of everyday life exploring themes of acceptance, uncertainty, independence and ordinary acts of love.
This workshop is especially suited to young people interested in songwriting and composition.

Workshop: 12pm – 1pm
