The Black Gate, in partnership with Galway City Arts Office and Music Generation Galway City, presents Black Gate Beginnings, a series of youth music events and workshops taking place in October 2022, funded by Creative Ireland.
On October 8th Music Generation Galway City will host a workshop and performance by North Kerry rapper Súil Amháin in the new GCC Music Centre in Galway Community College. Súil Amháin embodies West Munster lyricism with kaleidoscopic references to ancient folklore and grammar defying wordplay in Irish, delivered in accentuated patterns from traditional poetry, and flows influenced by the likes of GZA, Lord Infamous, Seán de hÓra and Mo Chara.
This masterclass in performance and live production will appeal to young people interested in making beats, rap, hip-hop, spoken word and music production.
Venue: GCC Music Centre, Galway Community College
Workshop: 12pm – 1pm
Event: 1pm – 2:30pm
