Led by NUIG Concert Orchestra Maestra Joanne Cater, who is an experienced Musician Educators with Music Generation – young people and their adults were invited to a neurodivergent, age friendly performance on a Sunday Afternoon at 2p.m. 20th of March at the Black Box Theatre Galway City.
What a turn out for our first concert with over 150 tiny dancers showed up with their adults and cushions to experience popular classics with the NUIG Concert Orchestra !! The concert raised over €900 euro for the development of a Music Education Programme for young people who are Nuerodiverse in Galway City. Proceeds for the concert will be match funded by the National Development office of Music Generation supported by the Department of Education. Music Generation Galway City have already begun to plan a local summercamp with Galway Autism Partnership and will continue to work with primary schools to develop our special education music programmes through our Leanaigí programme to provide subisdised access to high quality Music Education for young people across the city.
