An amazing opportunity to work with four inspiring creative people. Theo, Benjamin, Alice and Julie will guide participants on a lyrical and musical journey that is open to ALL young people have an interest in hip-hop. 2 hours per day for 3 days of joyous collaboration, which will result in a new track and video featuring YOU!
The course will comprise of three live online sessions: on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Each session is two hours long. Participants will learn to create excerpts of spoken word, instrumental or sound recordings, singing and simple beats and these elements will be woven into a musical track which is to feature in the “Galway Sound Harvest” album. The album will be a compilation of similar tracks from communities throughout the city and county who have taken part in our Music Generation/Galway 2020 workshops.
The classes will be delivered in an accessible way with a focus on confidence-building. Students with no background in music or rapping will be encouraged and given techniques to start composing lines of lyrics, producing easy beats and creating sounds for sampling. Contributions from each individual may be as small as a few words, or a little percussion. However, if participants have strong music composition or writing skills and feel comfortable to do more, they will be encouraged to do so.
